Now, back to my title: Celebrities Overdosing on Opiods. I am so sick and tired of the media eulogizing these great and wonderful celebs who were taken from this world all too soon because they overdosed on drugs. From Elvis (Of whom I have been a HUGE fan of for most of my life) to Kurt Cobain, to Michael Jackson, and now Prince and many in between. These entertainers were not taken from this world. They killed themselves because they not only wanted to get high but also because they thought they were entitled to them. After all, look at how hard their lives were? Poor things could not go out in public because they were mobbed by fans. They could not do the things normal people could do again, because of their huge celebrity, fans would mob them just for a look, a touch or an autograph. Poor, poor guys, huh? Give me a break! No one MADE them become popular celebrities, they CHOSE to become celebrities. And yes, I will even admit that I believe they worked extremely hard. For some of them it took years of playing in smelly bars, sleeping on stinking busses and getting hardly any pay after paying their expenses. I get it. But what is one of the first things they do when they MAKE IT? Well, from what I have seen, after the buy the big houses and cars and more clothes than would outfit a small country, they hire a personal physician. And I use the term physcian very loosly. These guys write whatever their boss tells them to and often the doc writes it for someone else and gets it filled himself to make things easier for his poor boss who cannot go out to do menial tasks for himself. What these doctors do borders on murder. Do they even remember their Hiprocritic Oath? I think the first line reads DO NO HARM. Harm is not a strong enough word for what these poor excuses called doctors do. And they do it all for the almighty dollar because the star is paying him some astronomical fee. I think the whole process stinks and a stop to it needs to happen NOW! But taking all opiods away from everyone is clearly not the answer. To me, the answer is so simple a 2nd grader should be able to come up with it. First, I believe it should be illegal for a celebrity or anyone else, for that matter, to have a personal physcian. These people should have to be hurt or sick and have to see 3 doctors that are chosen randomly for them by the FDA. Secondly, the celebrity should have to go and sit in the doctors office along with us mere mortals in REAL pain. They should have to bring last months meds and have then counted, and lastly they should have to visit the drugstore, the SAME drugstore every month, to have the prescription or prescriptions filled. They, the doctor, the patient, and the drugstores should be held accountable for the horrible ways these people are breaking the law. Those same laws that are going to rob the real chronic and intractable pain patients from getting the medication they need just to make it through the day. Oh, wait! These celebs cannot go out like normal people. You know what? Neither can I and it is damn sure not because I am a celebrity. If there are 50 people in this whole world who even know my name would amaze me.
I am just so sick and tired of these selfish people who are idolized and eulogized like they invented something life-saving or even so useful that it changes society as we know it. Celebrities should be treated like anyone else. And as for those of us who are not famous: leave these people alone so they can have a life. A real life.
And that is my bitch & gripe for today.
